The Godhead Trinity

Of all the ways that we have looked at He is to this point, and even what we will look at past Colossians, the Godhead Trinity was probably the post that I was apprehensive to write the most. If I were to sit here and try to make you believe that I have the Trinity figured out, I would be lying to you. Therefore, I refuse to do that. We have all seen the analogy of the egg and the three-leaf clover in representation of the Trinity, and while on the surface, those are great analogies to give a basic idea of three in one, it still does not give us a true clue as to the vastness of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Colossians 2:9-10 in the King James reads like this: For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power.

Now, I want to share how it is written in the Complete Jewish Study Bible. For in Him, lives the fullness of all that God is. And it is in union with Him that you have been made full – He is the head of every rule and authority.

The fullness of all that God is - God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. I looked up the words Godhead and bodily in the Greek and Godhead is of course divinity, deity, the supreme divinity, God, which makes sense. When I looked up bodily, however, I ran across something amazing as I traced the word back to its root. The root for bodily in Greek is the word sozo (sode-zo) and means:

TO SAVE, THAT IS, DELIVER OR PROTECT, LITERALLY OR FIGURATIVELY, HEAL, PRESERVE, SAVE (SELF), DO WELL, BE (MAKE) WHOLE

“Godhead bodily” and “all that God is”, it does not matter which translation you look at, it translates in the Greek to salvation! Yeshuah in the Hebrew means salvation! The fullness of God is all about salvation! The Holy Spirit convicts us and draws us to Jesus. When we accept Jesus as savior, He intercedes on our behalf to the Father, drawing us to Him. They work in tandem for the purpose of salvation and relationship with us.

Hebrews 11:1 reads Trusting is being confident of what we hope for, convinced about things we do not see. You might be more familiar with the KJV Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11 is the Hall of Faith and gives account of the men and women of God who did not have to see, did not have to understand WHY God told them to step out, by faith they KNEW in their heart that God was in control and was going to make a way even though they could not see it in the natural. This is how I feel about understanding the Trinity. God is TOO BIG to grasp and understand in His completeness and fullness with my little, finite body and mind. There will come a day when all is made clear, and we will understand because we will be made perfect and complete as He is perfect and complete. For me, simply knowing that I can love of God and call on Him, Abba, Bet, or Ruach HaKodesh (Father, Son, or Holy Spirit) and simply know by faith that it is enough.
