There are times when we pray that we ask for God to reveal and show things to us, like He is sitting in heaven with a hammer of knowledge that He will just hit us on the head with and show us what we are praying about. While He does give divine knowledge to people at different times, He has told us in His Word how to find what we are looking for and that is through seeking.
The Bible tells us multiple times that we are to seek God. Deuteronomy 4:29 states: However, from there you will seek ADONAI your God; and you will find him if you search after him with all your heart and being. And Matthew 7:7-8 says: 7 Keep asking, and it will be given to you; keep seeking, and you will find; keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who keeps asking receives; he who keeps seeking finds; and to him who keeps knocking, the door will be opened. With seeking comes finding, and with finding comes receiving.
This is a topic that I will be breaking down in a different post because there is so much to it that I have discovered, and excitement isn't even an appropriate term to convey how I'm feeling about it. I am sharing a little about it now, because it is relevant to this post as I have been asking the Lord to reveal to me about the word PRINCE in Prince of Peace. I was in the shower thinking on it and praying when the phrase "Seek me and you will find me." rang like a bell in my head, followed by the last sentence of the previous paragraph. With seeking comes finding, and with finding comes receiving. I couldn't finish my shower fast enough. With my hair still dripping, I started doing a word study on the the word seek. I looked up the Hebrew alphanumeric of that word, which led me to using the book Hebrew Word Pictures by Dr. Frank T. Seekins. As I was looking for information on seek in that book, I ran across what I was asking the Lord about concerning the word prince. Seek and ye shall find, indeed.
From the Complete Jewish Study Bible: Isaiah 9:5(6)
For a child is born to us,
a son is given to us;
dominion will rest on his shoulders,
and he will be given the name

(Wonder of a Counselor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace)
Read that one more time and see if you caught the significance of something. In all the years I have read this scripture, I have broken this down as He is our Wonderful Counselor, He is our Mighty God, He is our Everlasting Father, He is the Prince of Peace. I have read them as titles and in doing so have missed it. AND HE WILL BE GIVEN THE NAME.
These are not the roles of being Jesus, they are not titles that He bears; His NAME IS, (not translated AS): A Wonder of a Counselor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace. His name is so much greater than what we can fathom. I will look at breaking down His name in its fullness in a different post, so that we can focus on Prince in Prince of Peace. In Hebrew, peace means Shalom which we will cover more in depth when we get to the book of Micah.
This photo shows the characters that make up the Hebrew alphabet. Clicking on the photo will take you to the website the photo is from which explains how to learn the Hebrew Alphabet. I shared it for there to be a visual reference from breaking down the word Prince.
The first letter of the word prince is Shin, which means tooth, devour. The second letter is Resh, which means head, man, person. Therefore, Prince translates to, The consuming man. The prince will devour all that is in his way. A good prince will devour the enemy and what is evil. (from Hebrew Word Pictures) This means that Jesus, the Prince of Peace devours or rules over and destroys the authority that establishes chaos! He consumes chaos with His peace! The very first definition for consume in Webster's is: To do away with completely: DESTROY. Within His name is the power to destroy, abolish, obliterate, and consume the chaos within your life, then he replaces it with His Shalom, His peace. I don't know about you, but that made me want to shout! I pray for Jesus to bring His Shalom to you and to consume every ounce of chaos that has invaded your life. He is the Prince of Peace, the devourer of chaos, the bringer of Shalom! Amen and amen!
